Abhijit Banerjee is better known as the an Indian-born American economist who (with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer) won the 2019 Nobel Prize for Economics. But his lesser known formidable talent is in cooking and hosting the loveliest of meals for his friends. Juggernaut Books publisher, Chiki Sarkar, invited in 2021 to design a cookbook that would match his fun, whimsical voice and eclectic, charming recipes. Combined with very graphic yet insightful illustrations from French illustrator Cheyenne Olivier (who has been Abhijit and Esther’s au pair for their two children), this was material that needed an equally playful, bold and somewhat cheeky typographic approach.
